Internet: LaFourchette bases its R&D team in Nantes

LaFourchette plans to create fifteen IT jobs in Nantes by 2016.

Bought in May 2014 by TripAdvisor, the online restaurant reservation platform, located in the Sentier district in Paris, is growing quickly. After looking at other cities, such as Amsterdam and Turin, LaFourchette finally decided to set up its R&D Office in Nantes.

They are setting up their French R&D office in the Cantine Numérique coworking space in Nantes. They plan to increase their staff to 15 people by the end of 2015 and hire developers. “Just 2 hours from Paris by train, Nantes has many advantages. The outstanding economic and academic environment means we will be able to recruit from an impressive pool of candidates. We also chose France because of the excellence of French engineers," said Bertrand Jelensperger, president and co-founder of LaFourchette in 2007. 

According to a recent survey, Nantes has the highest rate of job creation in IT in all of France.  

LaFourchette received support in setting up its operations from the economic development agency Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement.
