Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement announces the 3rd edition on 19 & 20 June of Wind for Goods

Wind for Goods is an international event dedicated to wind-powered maritime transport, showcasing innovations within the sector and addressing the challenges faced by this key industry in the energy transition.

On the occasion of the SMM international maritime trade fair currently taking place in Hamburg, Germany, the agency Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement, together with its partners*, has just announced the 3rd edition of Wind for Goods, the international event dedicated to wind-powered maritime transport, to be held on 19 and 20 June 2025 in Saint-Nazaire.

French and international companies in the sector will once again gather for this unifying event, organised by Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement. Engineering firms, shipowners, equipment manufacturers, industrialists, shippers, economic networks, competitiveness clusters, research and training institutions, investors, and policymakers are coming together to discuss the sector’s major advancements, create synergies, and support the industry's growth.
While the 2023 edition fostered discussions on key issues within the sector and spotlighted companies by showcasing their prototypes and technologies, the 2025 edition aims to accelerate the transformation and projects of this emerging field, which, although still in its infancy within the broader maritime transport sector, is rapidly positioning itself at the cutting edge of innovation.

According to the 2023 study conducted during Wind for Goods, the growth potential of wind-powered transport is real and represents a distinct French speciality. Of the 31 pioneering companies worldwide in wind propulsion, 11 are French, with six based in the Nantes and Saint-Nazaire region. This area boasts expertise that bridges maritime and aeronautical industries and offers infrastructure ideally suited for the development of this field. Currently, the region accounts for 43% of the jobs in wind-powered transport, and this figure is expected to reach 50% by 2030.

During the two-day event, conferences will be held to address the key issues surrounding wind-powered maritime transport. These will also provide an opportunity for international participants to share their large-scale solutions for meeting the challenges of the ecological transition. Sea visits, tours of key sites in Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, and B2B meetings via a dedicated platform will also be organised.

In its previous two editions, Wind for Goods welcomed nearly 1,000 visitors, 50 companies, and showcased 20 innovations in wind-powered transport in Saint-Nazaire. The event highlighted the key players and practical solutions contributing to the decarbonisation of international maritime transport and the large-scale fight for environmental preservation.
