As France’s leading shipbuilding centre and second most important aerospace hub, the Saint-Nazaire area is recruiting, and wants to make that known. Many thriving firms are based there, whether in renewable marine energy, biotechnology, food-processing or digital technology.
In 2018, the Saint-Nazaire area offered around 6,500 job vacancies to drive all business sectors forward. Firms based in Saint-Nazaire nonetheless face a shortage of certain skills: without the right talents, they cannot process new orders or tackle new markets. This compromises their development. In addition to the structural difficulties of recruiting certain talents, the perceived image of the Saint-Nazaire area sometimes seems like an obstacle to recruitment.
The purpose of the video produced by the economic development agency Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement is to showcase the Saint-Nazaire area as an attractive destination in which to live and work.
The film is the fruit of reflections alongside Saint-Nazaire’s major industrial players (Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Airbus, Man Diesel, IDEA, Stelia Aerospace). Lasting one minute and thirty seconds, it focuses on the urban area’s real-life employees in their professional and personal lives, revealing the wealth of urban life by the sea.
