A new accommodation offer is now available to businesses working in the image, film and transmedia sectors in Nantes.

Located on the Île de Nantes, near the current MIN wholesale market and the future teaching hospital, the La Centrale business incubator boasts a total surface area of 750 m² dedicated to companies specializing in the image industry (film, television, animation, video games, visual arts, media and transmedia). The building offers private offices (12 to 25 m²), shared workspaces, project areas and common areas.

A transitory site

For Lionel Pouget, Head of Communication for the Quartier de la Création cluster, “this new offering forms part of Samoa’s development strategy promoting access for cultural and creative enterprises to business real estate opportunities at a lower cost, thanks to the requalification of transitory spaces.” Resulting from the rehabilitation of the former Centrale des Artisans Coiffeurs, the activity of La Centrale is programmed for a period of roughly eight years. The building will subsequently be given over to health-related activities (like its neighbour, Nantes Biotech), as part of the future health district project.

Termites Factory, Ouest Medialab and Light Cavern among the first tenants

Open since early April, La Centrale already hosts fifteen entrepreneurs and companies, including Ouest Medialab, a digital information and communication cluster, Light Cavern, a laboratory dedicated to new images in the visual arts, multimedia, storytelling and design, as well as the transmedia design studio Termites Factory. La Centrale completes the real estate offer proposed by the Quartier de la Création cluster for businesses in this sector, today comprising seven sites (including the Karting and Le Solilab) and more than 200 tenants.
