Sustainable development : Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port Awarded the EcoPorts Label

Nantes–Saint Nazaire Port has received support for its efforts to bring economic and environmental improvements to the Loire Estuary, in the form of a quality label that is specific to European Ports and intended to underline their good practices in terms of sustainable development.

Nantes–Saint Nazaire Port has received support for its efforts to bring economic and environmental improvements to the Loire Estuary, in the form of a quality label that is specific to European Ports and intended to underline their good practices in terms of sustainable development.

 

At the start of 2015, Lloyd's Register awarded the EcoPorts Label to the Nantes–Saint Nazaire Port Authority for a period of two years. The EcoPorts Label involves giving recognition for the actions being undertaken notably as regards industrial ecology, the management of sediments and the reduction of noise and other pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

21 European Ports currently possess the EcoPorts Label. Nantes Saint-Nazaire has thus become the fourth French Port to receive the award, alongside Lorient, Calais and Le Havre. “We are fully committed to this port-dedicated environmental approach,” explains Environmental Management Officer Mathias Guérin. “Our aim is to see all its elements find long-term application at the Port, all within a sensitive natural, urban and industrial environment”.
